This product link include a DC high voltage power supply(XHHV508-4) and a 35kV/4μF high voltage impulse energy storage capacitor(XHCC-4/35).
 
The two work together can be used as a high voltage surge generator, to impact high voltage to faulty cable during cable fault location.

The high frequency DC high voltage power supply fully meets DL/T846 "General Technical Conditions for High Voltage Test Equipment" and DL/T474 "Guidelines for the Implementation of Field Insulation Test". It is mainly used for shock discharge during cable fault test of 35kV and below voltage level. It can also be used for DC voltage withstand test of other electrical equipment. The equipment completely replaces the traditional test transformer and operating box weighing dozens of kilograms (generally 5kVA a set of transformers more than 50 kilograms, control box more than 20 kilograms). The power supply adopts high-precision, high-stability special high-voltage electronic components and high-frequency high-voltage technology, which makes the whole machine simple structure and ultra-light weight. 1 High-voltage grounding column: also known as high-voltage tail, it must be independently and reliably grounded to prevent high-voltage leakage and discharge. Poor contact may cause failure to boost the voltage, damage to the high voltage breakdown of the internal components of the instrument, and leakage or discharge within the instrument to cause safety accidents.

2 High voltage output: Dedicated DC high voltage output terminal.

3.Voltmeter: high voltage output voltage indicator, used to display the output voltage value.

4 Power socket: instrument working power supply, AC 220V/50Hz.

5 Safety tube holder: The installation place of the safety tube of the AC 220V power supply system.

6 Power switch: In gear I, use 220V AC power to supply power to the system. When the power switch is on, the power indicator is on. In gear 0, the power indicator is off.

7 Start button: When the start button is on, it indicates that the voltage output is in the zero state, and the start button is effective only when it is on. If the start button light is not on after the power switch is turned on, adjust the voltage adjustment knob counterclockwise until the light is on. When the start button is on, press this key to start the device and produce high voltage output.

8 Stop key: When the test is complete or an exception occurs, press this key to cut off the high voltage output. Stop key On indicates that there is high voltage output, and off indicates that there is no high voltage output.

9 Voltage adjustment knob: Before starting the device, the knob must be turned counterclockwise to zero, and then adjusted clockwise to increase the output high pressure from small to large, and counterclockwise to reduce the output high pressure from large to small.

10 Overcurrent protection switch: Press this button, the overcurrent protection is turned on, the button springs up, the overcurrent protection action. High voltage output is available only when this key is pressed. After the overcurrent protection action, you must shut down and discharge.

11 Ammeter: Indicates the current size of the low voltage side.

12 Safety grounding column: the instrument housing, in order to prevent the instrument housing live or personnel electric shock, must be reliably connected to the earth.

 Steps

1 Check the wiring according to the wiring diagram to ensure that all ground wires are in good contact (the distance between the ball gap is 1mm and the discharge voltage is about 3kV, and the ball gap can be adjusted from small to large on site).
2 Check whether all ground wires, the high-voltage output wire from the host to the capacitor terminal and the high-voltage output wire from the capacitor terminal to the DUT are in good contact. After the inspection is complete, turn on the AC 220V power supply.
3 Turn on the "power switch", press the first gear when the AC 220V power supply is turned on, then the switch light is on, and the AC 220V power supply is normal.
4 When the "start button (zero position light)" light is on, press the "start button" to start the high voltage. If the "start button (zero position light)" light is not on, adjust the "voltage adjustment knob" to the zero position counterclockwise to ensure that the "voltage adjustment knob" is in zero state, at this time the "start button (zero position light)" light is on; Restart the high voltage output again.
5 When the high voltage starts normally, the "stop button light" is on to indicate that there is high voltage output. At this time, slowly adjust the "voltage adjustment knob" clockwise, observe the "voltmeter" indication, and adjust to the required discharge voltage or DC withstand voltage value. .
6 When the discharge interval is too fast: you can adjust the "voltage adjustment knob" counterclockwise to reduce the output high voltage frequency; when the discharge interval is too slow: you can adjust the "voltage adjustment knob" clockwise to increase the output high voltage frequency, and then adjust the "voltage adjustment knob" again. "Let the discharge interval reach the required time (generally 4-8S is recommended).
7 After the fault test or DC withstand voltage test is completed, adjust the "voltage adjustment knob" counterclockwise to the zero position to ensure that the "voltage adjustment knob" is in the zero position state. At this time, the "start button (zero position light)" light is on.
8 After the "start button (zero position light)" light is on, press the "stop button" to cut off the high-voltage output; at this time, use a special discharge rod to correctly and fully discharge the high-voltage end of the capacitor and the object under test (first use arc discharge, and then use direct Discharge), observe the change of "voltmeter" during discharge, when the "voltmeter" indicates "zero", it means the discharge is completed.
9 Finally, turn off the power switch; put away all test leads.
