Working method

There are three methods for the transmitter to transmit the signal to the pipeline: direct connection, clamp coupling and induction.

The direct connection method is to connect the output line of the transmitter directly to the metal pipeline, and inject the signal directly. The direct connection method is suitable for: water pipelines, gas pipelines, communication cables, power cables, cathodic protection pipeline test points or other access points, and continuous metal structures with long-term characteristics.
 
The clamp coupling method is suitable for the case where the pipeline is exposed, but cannot (or is not allowed) to touch its metal parts, and the pipeline is grounded at both ends (especially suitable for power cables).

When the pipeline has no exposed point, the radiation induction method needs to be used; before the ground excavation, the induction method is mainly used when it is necessary to detect whether there is a pipeline underground. The advantage of the induction method is that it is easy to use, does not need wiring, and does not have any form of electrical connection with the pipeline. It is especially suitable for pipeline detection without exposed points, and it is also a main method for regional pipeline detection. The disadvantage is that the induced current of the pipeline is smaller than that of the direct connection method and the caliper method, especially when the pipeline depth is large, the effect is poor, and it is suitable for pipelines with a depth of less than 2m; signals can be induced for all pipelines within a certain range, which will affect the specific pipeline, make the recognition difficult.
